Antique Cameo Brooch in 9ct Gold
In the centre of this antique brooch there’s a nicely carved cameo of a woman in profile and she’s been surrounded with gold flowers and seed pearls. The sardonyx cameo has some nice details, especially around our lady’s hair, and the gold flowers have raised details on each petal and are just so sweet!
The gold bar connecting the cameo to the seed pearls is slightly bent. The two middle flowers would have originally been connected to the cameo, but these connections have broken (although this doesn’t affect the look of the brooch). There’s some minor surface wear to the gold and cameo, but overall in great shape and ready to wear.
The brooch catch and pin are base metal, but the rest of the brooch is 9ct gold. The catch looks like a later replacement and has been attached with lead solder.
9ct gold (unmarked but tested)
Measures approx 42.5mm long and 18mm from top to bottom at the widest point. Weighs approx 2.6g.
