Inspired by History
Turquoise Row was born in 2014 out of my love for history; after all, antique jewels are tiny pieces of history you can wear! Knowing that the ring on my finger has been around, being worn, treasured and enjoyed for over 100 years is a feeling like no other, and I started selling antique and vintage jewellery on Etsy in 2014 after a several years of learning and collecting.
In 2017, I began learning to make jewellery at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham, UK. I initially intended to only repair antique pieces, but have fallen in love with making jewellery from scratch - I take inspiration from history, especially ancient and antique jewellery, and try to create pieces that will one day be treasured antiques themselves!
I use a mix of antique (and even ancient!) components in my original work, and each piece is made by hand in my home workshop in Sydney. I completed a Diploma in Gemmology in 2016, and since then have been a bit gem obsessed! I love using bright, colourful gems in my work, and carefully select each gemstone individually.
