Silver Albertina with Tassel, Tbar and Shield Pendant

This albertina chain has so many lovely details! The slider pendants have great beaded and engraved details on both sides, and the tassel, t bar and shield pendants make this such an interesting piece.

The slider pendants are both fixed in place and don’t slide along the chain. The shield is engraved B.C.C. 1952 - 1953 on the back. It also has a blank space for engraving on the front, so you could add your own initials if you wanted!

Albert chains were popular in the Victorian and early Edwardian periods, where they were worn on mens waistcoats, with the t bar attached to a button hole and usually a pocket watch on the other end. Albertinas are the more decorative versions of this chain, which were worn by women. These chains have so many lovely details, but are odd lengths - too long for a bracelet, but too short for a necklace. I attach a bracelet to the back of the chain to extend the length so it can be worn as a necklace!

The slider pendants have a few small dents to the sides, and one is missing a small section of beading. There is a small split in the sliders along the original join line - although I think this was an imperfection from manufacturing and does not affect the wearability of the chain. There’s light surface wear commensurate with age and light use, but overall the albertina is in great shape and ready to wear.

Silver (British lion hallmark for silver on the t bar)

Measures approx 30cm (12 inches) long. Slider pendants measure 13mm across, 18mm long and 8.5mm wide. Weighs approx 35g.

Please note in the pics where the albertina is being worn as a necklace, I’ve attached another chain to the back to make it long enough to be a necklace.

If you’d like me to remove the shield, t bar and tassel so they can be worn as separate pendants, I can do this at no extra cost - just message me!
