Made to Order: Solid Gold Spinner Coin Pendant
Please note this pendant is made to order and can be customised with your choice of gold. Your custom pendant will take 6 - 8 weeks to make before it’s posted out to you.
This coin is a solid gold casting of a genuine ancient Roman coin. The original silver coin was minted around 144 AD - meaning it was made 1,879 years ago! This coin is an incredibly lucky find, as the condition is still so good with both sides still clear and crisp. It was discovered by a metal detectorist in Leicestershire, UK, and who knows how long it had been buried for? I just had to make solid gold castings of this special piece!
The bust is of the Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius, who ruled the Roman Empire from July 138 - 161, after he was adopted by the previous Emperor Hadrian in early 138 AD. Antoninus is remembered for his relatively peaceful reign and for his extensive building program, including rebuilding cities that were ravaged by natural disasters.
The other side of the coin shows Virtus, the personification of bravery and courage. Virtus can be shown as a man or woman, young or old - bravery has always come in all shapes and sizes!
The coin can spin in the solid gold frame, so either Antoninus or Virtus can be worn as the front. I’ll post a video of it in motion on instagram!
The pendant in the photos is 9ct yellow gold, but the pendant can be made in 9ct or 18ct yellow, white or rose gold.
Measures approx 30mm long and 21mm across at the widest point. Weighs approx 5.3g
Please note the chain is not included but is available separately here
Free fully insured international postage
