Made to Order: Solid Gold Roman Coin Pendant
Please note this pendant is made to order, and can be customised with your choice of gold! Your custom pendant will take 6 - 8 weeks to make before it’s posted out to you.
This pendant is cast from an original ancient Roman coin - and this coin has a very interesting history! When it was minted, around 110 BC, certain private individuals, known as moneyers, were permitted to mint their own coins. So this coin was legal currency, minted in Rome, but by one mans private mint! I believe this coin was minted by Gaius Claudius Pulcher, who as a consul in 92 BC and a moneyer from 110-109 BC. His name has worn off (it would have been just below the chariot), but it seems most likely this was one of his coins. One side of the coin features the goddess Roma wearing a helmet, and the other shows the winged goddess Victory in her chariot - so it’s a very patriotic coin!
Both sides of this coin are just so lovely, I couldn’t decide which one to make the front - so I made one of each! With the way the coin has been stuck, the back of the pendant will always be a bit crooked, but it can still be worn double sided if you’d like! Just select the side you want to be the front in the drop down menu below.
I’ve made the example pendants with two slightly different bales - one is a bit chunkier than the other. You can select which look you prefer in the drop down menu below.
Measures approx 28mm long and 19mm across (at the widest point). Weighs approx 5.4g (with the thicker bale) and 5.1g (with the thinner bale).
Please note the chain is not included, but is available separately here
Free fully insured international postage
