Double Sided Ancient Coin Pendant with Mars

A$775.00
Sold Out

I love finding coins like this one - both sides of the coin face the same way, so it can be worn double sided! You can wear either the god Mars or the Emperor Claudius II as the front!

The bust on one side of the coin is of Emperor Claudius II (aka Claudius Gothicus) who ruled from 268 - 270 and had previously served in the Roman army. He may have killed the previous Emperor and seized power with the backing of the army, although that is disputed. He ruled for only two years, so coins with his bust are fairly hard to find - but it means we know when this coin was struck, around 1,755 years ago!

The other side of the coin shows the standing figure of Mars, who was an important god in Ancient Rome. Mars was the god of war, but was also associated with farming and agriculture.

I handmade the gold frame just for this coin, so you know this pendant is completely one of a kind!

Frame is 9ct gold (unmarked).

Measures approx 34mm long and 22mm across. Weighs approx 5.1g.

Free fully insured international postage

Please note the chain is not included but is available here
