Antique Carnelian Plaque Ring in 9ct Gold
This lovely carnelian ring was made by the Jones Bros, who were based in Auckland, New Zealand from the late 1870’s. I believe this ring would have been made in around 1910 - 1920, and has a clear J BROS hallmark on the inside of the band.
There is some surface wear and scuffing and a few small chips to the carnelian, and some tarnished spots on the edges of the setting (but I can polish these tarnish spots out at no charge if you’d like!). There is some light scratching and pitting to the gold, and the ring has been resized at some point, with a visible line on the band where it was resized.
9ct gold (marked 9ct inside the band)
The ring isn’t round (the carnelian sits flat on the finger), so the size can’t be accurately measured on a mandrel - but it fits approx like a size O - P / US size 7 1/4 - 7 3/4 and can easily be resized.
Carnelian plaque measures approx 13mm by 11.5mm (including gold setting). Ring weighs approx 2.6g
